The Harcourt 1841 collection, the oldest in Baccarat's archives, is renowned for its iconic design.
Created in 1841, the Harcourt 1841 chalices were chosen by historical icons such as Pope John Paul II, the queen of Thailand, the king of Morocco and many other prominent figures.
The Harcourt 1841 collection also represented a constant of French power, chosen at the time of Napoleon III and still used today in the Elysée Palace.
The Old Fashioned Harcourt 1841 glass is characterized by its architectural shape: flat cut pattern along the walls and hexagonal base.
In Upper Normandy, there is still the castle of Harcourt, a medieval fortress, which belonged to a Norman family that served the Court of France: the castle was built at the end of the 12th century by Robert II of Harcourt, companion of Richard the Lionheart and it still retains the double moat, the walls and towers and splendid trees.
