In 1842, David Haviland made Limoges, the porcelain capital of the world, a cradle of limitless art. He started writing the history of the Haviland family, a name synonymous with French luxury art, which lasts to this day. David Haviland, a merchant, set up a ceramic and porcelain import business in 1838 in New York.
