The nine silhouettes carved in bas-relief on Rodgers' hyperrealist Sirènes are a reinterpretation of the dance of the Bacchae that René Lalique, founder of the Maison Lalique, depicted on his legendary vase.
One has to approach Terry Rodgers' canvases to go beyond the mask of erotic illusions: in the context of the Western world, which would have us believe in the miracle of youth, the triumph of beauty and money, the artist strips reality away and focuses our gaze on a seemingly intimate encounter in which no one seems to enter into relationship.
